Hello once again to my three loyal followers. It's been a while since I put up a post which is exactly what I knew would happen if I started a blog! My life isn't nearly exciting enough to warrant a blog but nevertheless I've done it (this seems to be the case for most people with blogs to be honest). Additionally, remember how my laptop broke? Yeah it's still broken. Turns out me taking it apart piece by piece while also knowing nothing about computers didn't magically fix it? Weird but okay. I was going to purchase a new laptop here (my grandpa is kind enough to be the one replacing the busted laptop) but then I realized the keyboards are different and since I already don't know how to type I extra don't know how to type on a keyboard with an Ñ key. The good news is My Boyfriend Chris Bartelt™️ will be bringing me a new laptop upon his arrival in Gran Canaria for the holiday season. So hopefully once I have something to type on besides my phone I'll be better about updating my blog. Here are some things I've been up to this past month:

  • Adding gofio to my chocolate milk and my yogurt. Gofio is like toasted flour kinda I think. Listen, I don't really know what it is but it's typical here so I bought it and now I'm eating it.

  • Adopting the Canarian accent while also not understanding the Canarian accent. They talk so fast here! They aspirate syllable- and word-final /s/ and sometimes they drop it altogether! It's not Las Palmas, it's Lah Palmah! It's not El Toscón, it's El Tohćon! I feel authentic when I talk like that but yeah I have no idea what anyone is saying most of the time.

  • Travelling around the island. Now that I've got my bus card I can go anywhere I want for the low low price of €28 a month! That is, assuming, I am person wholly capable of navigating public transportation. Turns out I'm not, but I still try my best. Oh also buses here are not called autobuses, they're called guaguas (pronounced /wa.wa/

  • Travelling to ~The Peninsula~. I went to Sevilla last weekend. It was nice to get a break from the island but it was very cold there and I was not prepared! Brr it was 60° there when it's 73° here. Sorry to those of you with snow.

  • Having a sleepover at my school. I would not recommend this, they didn't put the children to bed until midnight when I was ready to pass out at 10. Still, a neat and unique experience for me.

  • Getting kidnapped by a teacher. The teacher who drives me to the bus stop after work asked what I was eating for lunch and did not like my response of "a sandwich" so she took me to her house and fed me seafood soup and eggplant with chicken and cheese. Very kind of her, she's the best. Her boyfriend/partner told me he could potentially take me paragliding for free-- after showing me his giant scar from when he broke his arm (bone sticking out) while paragliding. I told him I'd think about it.

  • Skyping My Boyfriend Chris Bartelt™️ during his lunch breaks. Best part of my day usually. What a guy. Can't wait to see him at Chris-tmas time. He's bringing me Cheez-its (and a new laptop and new Chacos). Five stars.

  • Hang-drying laundry. I put my clothes on a clothesline using clothespins and they dry. Insane. I do miss having a dryer though.

Anyway that's pretty much all I can think of for now. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to comment or Facebook message me or WhatsApp me or Instagram DM me or Twitter DM me or email me or even snailmail me (just don't send packages. I will have to pay Customs/Correos a ton of money to receive it). Un saludo, Cassie
